Willits, just south of Leggett. We drove up to the Redwood country and back to Napa in a day.
Here it is- the famous Chandelier Tree
Its estimated to be over 2000 years old and yes the passage cut in the bottom of it is big enough to drive a vehicle through.
This was a private entrace to someones estate. Cool hey?
Nature, you can't beat it.
Big mother of a tree. It had obviously fallen down and they have disected in into pieces which you can see.
This family was so funny. The dad was driving it in and he had to pull his side mirrors in to get the car in...
Our turn. A lovely man took this photo for us. Cheers mate.
Can you spot the landslide?
This was scary. Look carefully- its an action shot so its a bit unclear.
It was so hot- ah, I love it.
.. while they were posing for the photo you could hear him yelling from the car, 'Get the number plate, get the number plate!' I guess you had to be there, but it was funny.
We never found out if the people in this car got out before it burst into flames. When we finally drove past the firefighters were turning it back over. Pieces of it fell off like it was made of flake chocolate. Very scary.
